Job challenges and transitions…
Blindsided moments in life…
All of these bring much chaos to our lives causing much worry, anxiety, and fear. Often we find ourselves with all sorts of questions for God, asking “Why me? Why now? Why can’t I just have a normal day Lord?”
But we are not called to a spirit of fear, but to a spirit of power, love, and self-control (1 Timothy 1:7). As I was reading this morning in Hebrews I came across six words that stood out to me more than ever before. I believe these six words can help change your perspective each day.
The opening chapters of Hebrews give an overview of the divinity of Jesus Christ and the incredible salvation he has made available. And then in Hebrews 2:8 we find such simple clarity about his sovereignty,
“…he left nothing outside of his control.”
Such simple truth for our every day moments. Everything is subject to King Jesus and is under his control. Even the chaotic things in life are all for his purposes. Every moment of every day.
Every drop of rain.
Every job transition.
Every positive pregnancy test.
He is working all things for the good of those who love him and are called for his purposes (Romans 8:28). I’m reminded of a song I used to sing as a little boy from Psalm 118:24,
“This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.”
Let’s receive the good things and the hard things that come our way each day with a God-honoring perspective. We live for him, under his full control.
